printing on legal size vinyl card 25-30mil thick

Jun 13, 2009 11:43AM PDT

I need to do color printing on legal size vinyl card 25-35 mil thick (probably a little more than double the thickness of a transparency. The thick card does not bend easily, so I was thinking of a color laser printer or phaser with a straight through feed. I also thought of inkjets, but the card is to be be used in outdoor environment, so ink may fade in the sun or run in the rain. Any suggestion on which printer and what type of ink to use?

Thanks

Let's google

I have no direct answer, but suggest you look into commercial or industry grade printers. What you're asking isn't the normal domain of typical PC home printers. This will also include the inks or consumables you will need for such usage. Google for sign type printers or CAD or graphics output types. I think this will put you into the right direction. The only names that come to mind are Lockheed and Roland, but I'm sure there are others. Check eBay or Craigslist for used as well, maybe new.

try: http://www.google.com/search?q=graphics+printers&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a
