Resolved Question

Printing hassles

Aug 29, 2013 10:56AM PDT

We have 2 Macbook Pros; my wife's has MS Word and mine has Pages. Every time we got to print, it becomes a real hassle. We bought an Epson NX430 for $60 from a private person. Which printer can solve our print problem?

Perhaps we could help you if you were to tell us, exactly,

what your "printing hassles" are.

How are each of you connecting to the printer?
What version of OS X are each of you running?
What happens when your wife tries to print?
What happens when you try to print?

There should be no reason why the Espon NX430 cannot meet your requirements.

more printing issues

Each of our Macbook Pros are using OX 10.7.5

When I attempt to print (Pages), the printer icon pops up and indicates "printing" or "error"
Eventually I use the convert feature .doc; this follows a whacky, 10 minute interlude.

When Lindy attempts printing she usually has to restart her Macbook before ANY actual
printing success occurs.

Her machine has Word; mine Pages because the late S. Jobs and Bill Gates could not
resolve conflict.

Help help...thanks in advance

I doubt this has anything to do with either Word or Pages

and certainly nothing to do with Gates and Jobs.

We still do not know how these two computers are connected to the printer but will proceed as though it is connected via USB to one of the computers.

That not withstanding, the first thing we have to do is get the printer to print correctly for one computer.
Your choice of which, as long as it's the one the printer is connected to via USB. Happy

Go here: http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/support/supDetail.jsp?oid=183404&BV_UseBVCookie=yes&infoType=Downloads&platform=OSF_M_X7
and download the latest driver for 10.7

Go to Print & Scan and DELETE the Epson from the list.

Install the driver that you downloaded and then add the Epson as a printer.
Make sure that this computer can now print happily to the NX340.

Head on over to the other printer and delete the printer from there too.
Install the driver on that computer too. Copy the downloaded file via flash drive, if you have one. If not, then download it from the site I linked to

Now back to the original computer.
Go to System Preferences > Print & Scan.
Click on the "Share this print on the network" and then open Sharing Preferences.
Make sure that Printer Sharing is ON and that the Epson is in the list of printers with a check mark in the box

Now go to the other computer, System Preferences > Print & Scan and Add the printer.

Everything should now work normally.
