Printing from Excel

Jul 29, 2005 11:45AM PDT

Is there any way to print a BLANK Excel Sheet? I would like to use the squares to write in keeping track of something.

When I try, it tells me ''Microsoft Office Excel did not find anything to print''.

First, go file->page setup->sheet(tab) and under ''print,'' check ''gridlines.'' Otherwise, you'll have to insert borders to differentiate the cells.

Next, go file->Print preview. When you close the preview, you'll see dotted lines along the right side and the bottom, designating what cells will be printed per sheet. Then make sure you adjust the column width and the row height so that you have room to write in your data.

Finally, go to the cell at the bottom right corner of the sheet, and enter a period. This will ensure that the entire page of gridlines is printed. If you don't want the period to be visable, just select the cell and change the text color the the color of your paper.

Hope this helps,
John

Although the above solution is a perfect one ...

I just note that printing an empty grid could just as well be done from MS Word. Just insert a table with the right number of rows and columns, the right borders, and the right sizes. It's about just as easy, but you don't need to use a trick like filling a cell before you can print.
