Printing Envelopes using Microsoft Word 2003

Mar 25, 2009 8:29AM PDT

I am having difficulty printing an envelope using Microsoft Word 2003. The envelope does not print. I go into Tools, Letters and Mailings, Envelopes and Labels. Then I type in my delivery address and return address and click on Print. I place the envelope in my feeder tray and it comes out blank. My printing options are set at Face Down, Envelope all the way to the right, Clockwise Rotation and Feed Automatic.

Has anyone experienced this problem??

Yes. For years in fact.

I have taken to cheating. I toss the information on a normal sheet and print it. I never use the envelope tool anymore. When I have a new printer and PC combo I print one time to figure out where the text will fall and then the next time I just feed the printer an envelope.

Ever since I started doing this, I've never had a problem.

I could not agree more.First time I used this tool
I went through 15 envelopes.I never used it again.
Take Bob's advice "If at first you don't succeed
.....................Don't use it again.

Envelope does not print ?

There are other settings, like envelope sizes - which if not set correctly, will let the printer print "out of range"; there is also the address position (inches from top, etc,) which may have been set outside the envekope, especially if envelope size is not set correctly; and at printing options, the envelope shown at position right side means the envelpoe should be placed at the left side of the printer's tray...and have you set the printer to print envelopes ? (other than paper). This usually does not matter, but some printers may not detect the envelope and so do not print ... If you still print a blank, try printing on a sheet of letter size or A4 paper.....

Had same problem. Please try the following: Control panel > faxes and printers > R click > Preferences > Look at bottom of dialogue box > click on print black only

This will work if your color cartridge is low or empty. For some reason envelopes were sometimes printing and sometimes not; with the color cartridge in the same status. Called lexmark after gruelling over the solution, blogs, downloading drivers, text troubleshooting. This was a solution. Hope it helps.

Sorry it took so long to respond.

Thanks so much. It worked like a "charm".

My color cartridge was low. I had tried just about everything to get it to work.
