Printers not visible

by bulman42 / August 3, 2006 7:16 PM PDT

Hi, even though they are available in the 'print' option of applications like word, my printers are not showing in the "printers and faxes" menu. This seems odd as it will print to the printers (bar one which crashes the app). I went in trying to remedy the crashing but cant get to any printers, nothing on the printers and faxes screen responds.

Any help very much apriciated!

IT could be a permissions problem check with the administrator to see if you have rights to see the printer and use it. sorry when you try print from word etc. What happens? do you get a error message come up? and what kind of printer is it?

What is the setup here?

Is this a home network? If so, how are you networked, eg router, cross-over cable, ethernet, etc.

Are the printers connected to a particular computer or to the router? If a computer, which one? Is it the one which does not display the printers?

You know that you still have to install the printers on each computer on a network don't you, then "share" the printer. The printer wizard should do that for you.
