Resolved Question

Printers compatible with Windows XPMedia Center Edition 2005

Sep 2, 2013 12:08AM PDT

I'm having trouble with my Canon Pixma MP 610 printer and if I can't get it resolved I'll need a new printer. I have a Dell desktop printer with Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005, but new Canon printers appear to require "XPSP3." Can I get a new printer that's compatible with my OS?

So what's the problem?

So what's the problem? Just make sure you have SP3 installed, which you should have done ages ago anyway, and find a printer that supports XP. XP Media Center Edition was just XP Home with a few additional programs bundled.

Thanks

Since I posted my question, I learned that SP3 was simply a service pack and not a newer version of XP (yeah, call me dummy) and may have already been installed during one of our go-'rounds with Dell tech support. Appreciate your prompt response - and thanks to CNET for these forums.

We all have to start somewhere

We all have to start somewhere and you actually took it upon yourself to try and find the answer yourself. In my book, that puts you well out in front of most.

We do have SP3. Googled instructions on how to find it. Thanks again!
