Printer won't print from computer <newbie ^^>

Feb 20, 2005 6:12AM PST

Hi I'm kind of an Uber Newb so please be patient with me :c)
I installed a new Epson RX500 and all included Software. I also hooked up a USB Port hub so I could use my web cam. The guy at Fry's neglected to tell me it needed a power source. x(
Anyway all worked well til I was chatting with daughter using web cam when cam went dark. Ever since then I can't get the printer to print. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling (minus said hub), but still no prints. Web cam works now though.

I get the dialog box that says "preparing" and the print icon comes up to the status bar, but then I get .."Error printing to USB001 the device is not ready"
The printer will scan and copy as stand alone, so there is no prob there.
I'm running windows 2000
Any ideas on my problem?
Thank you in advance. :c)

Printer Error
Feb 20, 2005 7:27AM PST

The message indicates that the computer & printer are not connected. Check that it is plugged in to an electrical outlet and the printer is turned on..
Check the usb cable is inserted properly. (not in hub)
If the problem persists, unplug the usb cable from the computer or printer. Right click the printer in Device Manager, choose uninstall, shut down the computer.
While power is off, reconnect the usb cable, then bootup the computer, wait for Windows to detect and re-install the printer.
Hope this will help.
Best of Luck

Printer error

I have done these things, though I will try again. I tried the cable in another PC and it works fine.
I'm afraid my problem may be more insidious, I'm having problems with my network now. I can't get online, the indication is that it is unplugged though it isn't and I tried that cable in the other pc too ???
Thank you for your response. :c)
