If you have "successfully" removed/deleted a pgm. the add/remove listing is still prsent, then use TweakUI or Add/Remove Pro. Either one will remove the listing heading. You can then use a "registry cleaner" to handle the registry part to tidy that up. Once all that is done, reboot then install the Epson drivers if you like and try again. If for some reason a "desktop icon" is still present, it really is inactive, just click&drag to desktop trashcan before the install.
OK, now if the printer after re-installing still misbehaves, being an Epson and you seemed to done the basics, it doesn't look good. Epson cleaning cycles and purges may not help if extremely clogged. You can try a "cleaning ink tanks" found by refill suppliers to help in still regard. Overall, this is an expensive process and maybe better spend buying a new printer. Some users have suggested they got a true electronics problems on the printer pcb. If that's the case, maybe you can resolve this with Epson even if not under warranty, if enough users complain about it if they have done typical printing and not used 3rd party inks. Overall, that would take a long time to reslove.
FYI - Epson printers when they print are great. They're great because they offer a high resolution or dpi rate. DPI, usually is the ink drops being spit out from the inkjets are numerous compared to other printers and are "small". These clog and the high count of inkjets lends itself to be clogged. On top of all that, the printheads which contain the inkjets isn't replaced when new ink(ink cart) is installed as other makers have done. The prolonged usage thus builds-up to a clog. All the about info IMHO is the Achilles heal of Epson printers. Thus, I suggest to new printer buyers of inkjet printing, don't get an Epson. I've had HP's last longer and when problems occur are more easily resolved vs. the Epson on "clogs or printheads" issues.
That's my opinion and I stand by it, tada -----Willy

I have an Epson Stylus D68 photo edition printer and when I tried to print something today it would not print. I trouble shooted but to no avail. I did uninstall it and reinstall with no sucess but decided to try it again.I am now trying to uninstall it prior to reinstalling it once more but in the Add/Remove I cannot get rid of the Epson Photo Print entry - when I click remove it just stays there.
I also cannot get rid of the Epson Printer Software entry it says
Warning - default printer deleted new default printer is Epson Stylus D68 series.
and then comes up with Uninstall complete.
I do not want to install it again until I have got everything off.
