Printer with easiest cartridge change

Mar 13, 2010 11:06PM PST

I'm trying to find a good printer for my elderly father. At the moment, he has a Lexmark that requires him to go through several steps (including scanning an alignment page) to change an ink cartridge. Is there a simple printer out there that doesn't put the user through a process every time the cartridge needs to be changed?

Thanks in advance!

A black-only laser printer has such a capacity, that your father would hardly have to change it. So if color printing isn't a requirement (and you didn't say so) that might be a way to go.

Thanks! Dad never uses color ink, so black-only would be perfect. Do you (or anyone else) have any recommendations?

In answer to your original post, all printers(I think) have to be aligned and that requires the setup mode in order to have decent print output. If not done, the user can't proceed in some cases or constantly haggled to do so and/or the result of not aligning is poor output. so really its not what you want to do. While, I know you a ptr. that doesn't need that, I can't think of one that escapes that function.

If you to reduce any handling to a minimum, try a monochrome(black) laser printer. That alone will last a long time before an empty is replaced. In this case, usually no alignment is required(aha!). Also, the cost of a basic black laser ptr. is very cost effective and darn right cheap, especially on sale. Eeven if not on sale, its easy on the wallet.

Totally agree Willy, I saw a little Brother laser mono on sale somewhere a while back for around 70.00 that would work for his purpose, they are cheap to run.
