PRINTER uses RED & YELLOW not BLUE

Mar 4, 2006 4:26AM PST

Lexmark Z23 printer has stopped using its blue from multi colour cartridge. I have removed one new cartridge and replaced with another new cartridge. I have made it clean itself and align.Have installed latest drivers from Lexmark but driver in device manager is always
C:\WINDOWS\system32\Drivers\usbprint.sys, although I have updated driver lots of times.
I have manually cleaned the bits inside that I can easily see but no further.
Is this ;printer as good as dead?

Easy Fix

You might try cleaning the contacts on the back and the part on the printer also. And if you call lexmark it has a one year warranty
1-800-Lexmark

Tell them whats going on and they will prob send you a new printer within about 48hrs

Thank you very much, but could you please be a bit more specific as to these contacts. Do you mean electrical or something near where you put the cartridges in?
Unfortunately is was not bought new, though it has done lots of good work for me, so the Lexmark supplier is not an option.
I am sure that with knowing exactly where to clean, I should be capable of trying it before I throw it outl. Hope to hear from you, vw.

Ok on the back of the cartridges you see the contacts clean those you should never touch those with your hands, next look at the place you put the cartridges in at and clean the metal on that i would jsut like a lens cloth .

Hope it helps

PRINTER USES RED AND YELLOW, NOT BLUE.

Thank you both for your advice, after I cleaned the contacts, it started printing as if you were seeing double, so after a few more tries, changing ink etc I threw it out and bought a s/hand Epson, which does not print wonderful pictures but the ink is very much cheaper. End of case.
