printer tries to install

by vhummel / May 3, 2006 6:22 AM PDT

running WnXP home sp2
each time I start or re-start my computer "Windows Installer" tries to install different components of my HP printer. My printer has been "installed" for years.
Is there a windows installer that comes with each program or is there just one Installer for the whole s ystem? this is very annoying but I dont know how to get it to stop trying to "install" the printer.

Try removing the printer.....

and any related software. I will look in Start/Programs for the HP's uninstaller and then in Add and Remove Programs. Then I delete the printer in the Printers folder. Once cleaned out I will download the latest drivers and software from HP's site and reinstall using their instructions procedure.

I used the HP site for my printer I have WINXP Home SP2
by DarCLew2 / May 3, 2006 3:22 PM PDT

I can delete them from my add / remove because the printer hardware is better than those from HP. I have a HP 648C DJ and HP will put in only 640C drivers but the ones from WINXP puts in drivers for 3 models/ When I turn on the printer which is USB now, I hear a sound when I turn it on and it is ready to use. Turn off the printer and again a sound is heard, up is goes up in sound and other goes down in sound. Think I will delete the hp drivers that aren't needed. Darrell L.
