And if it actually added the printer, did you install the printer software on the remote computer? And if you did install the software, can you "see" the printer when you open "My Network Places" from both computers?
And can you "see" the shared files from both computers? (Indicating the comps were actually shared correctly.) (It usually works best to actually share the entire C drive first, then share the printer, then "unshare" the C drive. Until you get the files completely shared, you wont' be able to access the shared printer simply because the permissions frequently aren't correct.)
Same "workgroup" name on both computers? Since it's easier to share correctly if you have the same/identical admin user with the same password on both computers, have you done that?
Did you make sure that "File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks" was CHECKed when you open the Control Panel-Network Connections-Local Area Connection properties"?
Hope this helps.

I have tried about all the tricks mentioned in the varios responses from all the knowledgeable persons and still am at a :standstill:. I can not get the printer sharing to work on my two computers. Both are set up with XP and the printer to share is an HP 6500 series. I have tried the various methods in the book but keep getting no response from the printer when attemptin to "test" it. I have used the sharing printer on my computer and the moved to my wifes computer and attempted to add the printer so we could share the HP. Her computer will not send the "test" message to the printer .
What am I do incorrectly? Any help would be appreciated.
