Printer Reviews - are they really all that bad?

Mar 16, 2010 4:31AM PDT

Are the majority of inkjet printers on the market today, or at least the ones reviewed on CNET, all mediocre to poor or am I missing something? Most "Editor Ratings" are generally below "Excellent" on anything reviewed. Any corresponding user ratings are invariably well below the Editor Ratings.

Almost all the consumer printers (like you find at bestby, wallmart, etc.) are less than happy devices with 2 year lifespans for the most part.

TEMPER YOUR EXPECTATIONS HERE since most are in the 50 buck range and we get what we paid for.

If you want to move up a notch, look at the business printers offered by Office stores.

IMHO, most home based printers tend to be what you get that lasts for several yrs. That's pretty good when compared to dot matrix printers than seem to go on and on. The plain fact inkjet technology just begs to have a problem, its the nature of the beast. However, the better and more costly printers then to deliver but then again anyone paying those costs tend also to care very much of the upkeep status of their printers. So, consider anything in the $100 and below range that lasts 1yr. or more you got your money's worth. If you can visit a local office resupply or center and handle and review what's available and take a USB drive to print what you may often do.
