Have a seemingly simple question or two for those with experience in this matter.
Here's my setup -- 2yr old Dell desktop linked to a Netgear wireless router and 2-3yr old Canon Pixma iP3000 printer. I'll be purchasing a Dell notebook in the very near future as soon as I find a deal that I'd like to use. I've obviously got very little experience with networking as the only other item on the router is my XBox 360 via wireless adapter.
My main question is this: How do I print from the laptop to my current printer?
First option I know that I can use is to physically connect the printer USB cable into the laptop, but that would defeat my purpose for the laptop besides being a PITA. Secondly, I think I can adjust some printer/network settings to print thru the desktop as long as it's powered on. Third, buy a new built-in wireless network printer. Any other options?
Leaning towards just buying a new one, but then I'll be lost again... If I do so, I don't need a true wireless printer correct? As I have my printer next to my wireless router, I'd only really need an ethernet-ready printer right???
Sorry for the dumb questions, but I'm all new to this. Thanks for any and all help!!!
