I am wondering why you believe everything the Pricemad salesman told you. As salesmen, they have an incentive to lie so they can close your purchase. The Pricemad story is not even logical. The TV was meant for Latin America, which means it is most likely both a lower cost and lower quality unit than the Elite models sold in the US. Why would the Elite models even be manufactured if the 505 was less expensive to manufacture and higher quality? It is obvious that Pricemad purchased an entire lot of these 505 models and are doing everything possible to sell them as quickly as possible.
I just got off the phone with Pricemad; Jim. Acted like I was a new buyer about a purchase of a NEC 50xr5a, (as originally done on Friday). He told me all i wanted to know about it with no push on the PDP505MX. The only thing about the NEC is that no warranty I would have to purchase. So why was I told something different to get me intrested in the PDP? (I told him what really happened) He didnt know. Sorry. He told me everthing about all the mess of PDP and Pioneer not adimiting to selling them or honoring thier warranty
The PDP is a better product than thier Elites for less money and so there fore only sold and honored in Latin America not here. It would cost Pioneer money for the loss of sales. The PDP505mx comes w/o speakers or stand just a display ready for cable, DVD, or Sat.
My main concern was getting the Pro Kit features in the PDP model, Yes I am he said. That is; the over 5 billion colors, the ACE IV, the 13bit processor. No problem just no Pioneer warranty so they threw in a MACK 3yr. warranty no charge. You can go to "Costco" site and find this Display with a complete description on the PDP. But no warranty, only Costco's in store waranty.
So,,, PIONEER does not want this model sold in America they will loose money and if a store sells this item they will loose there authorized dealership bottom line. Until I receive my display I am satisfied with their service. But do your own research as did.
