Very good price point for the power/features.

jostenmeat - I hear about all the lip syncing complaints with the 805. Was that issue just with a certain firmware version? I read that Onkyo released a newer firmware version in response to the lip syncing issues with some units, but I don't know if it fixed it.

I'd be all for upgrading to the 805 from my 803 at that price point but I think I'm going to get an Emotiva 5/7 channel amp before I upgrade my pre/pro and just use my 803 as my pre/pro for a while.

I have zero issues with 805.

I almost never experience sync issues. Only one time ever on bluray, and that was Sunshine. I think the actual disc could be the issue.

HD-DVD player seems to be a bit more prone. With this player, I've had a few sync issues. I skip back to last chapter, and its usually fine. I think *maybe* leaving it on pause for a while might make it more prone.

Its very difficult to separate sync issues from source disc, player, and receiver. Well, for me it is.

I forget which version my receiver came as, but its definitely not current. I never had any inkling to update.

I forget the features on your 803, but I have to agree Emotiva has done amazing things to make separates as affordable as they are. Emo + certain pre's is still a lot less than what some others are paying for receivers. Difference is when their pre is outdated, they have to buy a new amp section.

OTOH, your speakers might be easy loads, and if you sit close to them, the 803 might be quite sufficient (if not as much as the speakers could use). How far do you sit from the fronts, and what is the minimal imp? just curious.
