Previous itunes library has disappeared

Nov 18, 2012 9:49AM PST

I purchased a iphone5. I did a restore from a backup and everything worked great. Two days ago my computer did a update when I did a shut down. It processed everything and shut down. Yesterday I connected my iphone up to itunes which I discovered I now have a complete new itunes. When I check sync apps I get the message everything on iphone will be replaced with itunes library. Does anyone know what happen to my other itunes that I have using for the last 4 years or so. Thanks

Are you saying that you now have no tracks

in this version of iTunes?

FYI, "everything on iphone will be replaced with itunes library" is the norm. Any time you plug the phone into the computer and sync it, the iTunes library adds or removes items from the iPhone.

I have sync and backup my ipad and two iphone's religiously. This is what has happen one day i plugged in my devices and everything worked. The next day i plugged in my devices and nothing was there. On each of my devices itunes states that if I sync I will erase my devices. So I am trying to find out how to recover also my stuff that I been syncing and backing up for the last four years.

Launch iTunes with the Option/Alt key held down

it should prompt you for the location of an iTunes library.
Point it at the recently found one.

Alternatively, launch iTunes and go to Preferences and choose the location of the recently found library.

Close and relaunch
