Pretty Basic Question

Sorry if this has been asked/answered. I have an 802.11b wi-fi network at home, and 802.11b laptops from work. If I uprade my wireless router to 802.11g, will I see any benefit? Or would the 802.11g 'step down' to the 802.11b laptops? TIA.

I updated my router some time ago to 802.11g and didn't see any benefit besides a bit more security (why I changed it). As you get 802.11g machines you will see the payoff as I did.
