Ok. I turned off my HP Laptop by using the Power Button (hard reset) and first it booted into Vista's recovery mode. It said there was a hard disk error and it said it fixed it. I restarted and it said "Hard disk error, Press Ctl+Alt+delete to restart. Nothing has changed in the hardware since it was working. I booted up a Xubuntu Live CD and the partion manager still could read that the hardrive was NFTS but didn't allow file access. Is there any way i could use a Live CD (BartPE, Linux, etc) to save some files on my laptop.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
