I didn't agree with his politics but I always found him very personable and I thought his letters to Nancy were very moving. Sorry to hear of his passing but also a bit glad to know his torment (and his family's) is over.

This thread will not deteriorate into a bashing of the former President. The man just died, and this is the place for the expression of condolences to the family. Some members feel a personal sorrow,

So please hold any further criticisms of him. This is not the time to engage in political differences.

This country is now in mourning, and your opinions are already known.

Thank you.

I've voted for Reps., Dems., and independents. Ronald Reagan is first I was willing to give a second term without hesitation after closing my eyes and pulling the handle his first time around. He was a good human being. He spoke to you and not through you and he brought fresh ideas that, whether completely successful or not, showed that new approaches were nothing to fear. His presidency was a turning point in our recent history when it, to me, seemed that any change in course would be for the better. It may be a long while before a presidential candidate of his caliber stands before us and asks for an opportunity to take the helm when the sea is already stormy. Such is my opinion of then and now.

A real American who, guided by a strong Christian faith, changed America and the entire world for the better by sticking to his principles, and who provided an example to be admired from now on. God bless him.
