Prescott default fan won't blow like it should!

Hi
My Prescott fan used to get around 4000 RPM I think, made heaps of noize when the cpu was at max.
But Nowadays it wont get above 2428 RPM.
I did some research and tried disabling thermal control, Q-fan mode (or what ever) & adjusting the ratio up n down, also disabling q-mode, but no luck...
When the Prescott's get to hot they throttle themselves down yes??? Thus dramatically reducing my performance especially considering I get approx 75 degrees C, under 25% load.
Any input much appreciated!!!
Respect..

You may be seeing an old fan wearing out. At least such are widely available where I am.

Replace fan

In reply to: Prescott default fan won't blow like it should!

If you find the fan truly at fault don't hestitate to replace it. The cost is reasonable to do so and you'll know you're answer if the fan was the fault of any related problems. I don't know of any malware that attacks bios setting that effects fan speed. Yes, a P4 cpu will trottle down as it encounters increased temps and/or shutdown if too great in order to proctect itself. I wouldn't play too much with temp controls for now, just replace the fan ptoperly and take it from there, thus return any setting to thier deafults.
