Presario v3000 troubles

Hey Guys

Recently my laptop has been playing up, I turn the laptop on and it loads windows 7 then the page goes black but I can still see the mouse pointer, and sometimes it will just turn off by itself the battery is fine and was replaced 6 months ago, anyone know what the issue might be...?

Ive tried to reload vista back on but for some reason it wont boot the disk on start-up, ive tried to access the boot order but it doesnt let me change anything.

The v3000 and r3000 requre some work to keep going.

I've found both models to require a yearly cleaning and about every other year to pull the CPU heatsink (about a 15 minute job) to clean the fins and drop some fresh heatsink compound in. Has this machine been getting it's yearly maintenace?

No it has not recieved any cleaning or maintanence, I will pull it apart tonight and give it a clean to see if that helps, it seems to get really hot lately so that may be the problem.
