Isn't this a machine from 2005? Looks like it's time.
I have a Compaq Presario SR1550 NX desktop PC. Yesterday, it stopped booting up. I'm running Win 7The fans run, the green light is on and the yellow light under it. But nothing shows on the LCD monitorHere is what I've tried--- If I turn the monitor off and on, it shows 'no signal'.I hooked the PC to another working monitor- no image (that monitor worked fine on other PC)I hooked the LCD to my laptop and get an image.Hooked up the power supply from my emachine (that has 'no operating system', but will display from a floppy)-no difference.I don't get any beeps and the unit does not seem to respond to the keyboard.Reading in forums online- I've seen suggestions to replace power supply, or replace CMOS battery, motherboard, or CPU. Is that even worth the effort? Is it cheaper and better to just replace the motherboard and CPU? This unit is about 6 years old. Before this, I had problems running graphics programs, the PC would freeze up, and sometimes I'd get messages that the graphics card (chip) needs to be updated. It does NOT have a PCI express slot, but PCI or AGP. And accepts 2G max RAM.It seems to me that taking it to a computer tech would cost more than getting the thing replaced. Any comments, help??Ron
