Preparing laptop for extended trip

May 28, 2005 4:03AM PDT

My daughter has a Dell laptop with XP Professional on it.

The machine is almost 2 years old, and had its motherboard and hard drive replaced at about 3 months. No hardware or software problems since.

She is getting ready for a lengthy study abraod program. I don't know what kind of computer help is easily available on the campus where she will be, and I also need to check if the extended warranty is honored.

Is there anything special I should do before she leaves to clean up the system in hopes of minimizing problems when she is "on the road".

Thanks
