Powershot A70 Firmware problem

by Dark Figure / March 12, 2007 9:48 PM PDT

So I decided to update the firmware on my Canon PowerShot A70 (stupidly)

I followed the instructions to the word, and it says at the end up the update process the camera with automatically shut off.

Ok cool so that all went well.

However now it does not turn on.

Any suggestions? I contacted canon and they want me to send it in so there techs can "evaluate" the problem.

I suppose there is no way to fix this on my own if the thing wont even turn on anymore. What is the deal with this crap. I could understand if i used weak batteries or touched a button but it was stationary on its tripod.

Firmware Update

Firmware update always has a degree of risk.

Stuff happens.....

If the update fails;
sending the camera to the manufacturer is usually the only option.

Most camera repairs are over $100.

I don't know if they will charge you or not.

They may be able to reload the firmware without opening the camera.

Contact Canon again and see what they say.

I am sure they have run into this situation before.
