powered speakers to hdmi and dolby

I want to use powered speakers and decode dolby digital. tried buyin a decoder (gefen gtv-auddec-n) but discontinued, looking for equal item, without BIG preamp..

So few sources come from HDMI

Let's hear a lot more. For example many TV's don't pass 5.1 if the source is HDMI.

It's a mess so why drop a dime until you know more?
