Question

Powercfg /sleepstudy report shows "Unknown [NONE]" appid

Aug 10, 2017 4:53AM PDT

Hi,

I am using windows 10 pro 64 bit laptop (Thinkpad X1 yoga).
My laptop charge is draining fast and when I ran the sleep study report using powercfg command, i found and "Unknown [None]" app id consumes lot of power (https://ibb.co/nHuZ9v ). Not sure how to identify which services (background) causes this problem.

https://ibb.co/nHuZ9v

Any help would be really helpful.
Thanks in advance.

Sundar.

"Unknown [NONE]" appid consumes more % power comparatively

Hi Proffitt,

Firstly, i would like to thank you for taking time replying my question.

"That's a low number and not something I'd be looking into."
IMO, the % consumption ratio is on the higher end. For e.g. https://ibb.co/nHuZ9v (attached image)
In the above attached image Total consumption is 9266 mW (12% drain in 41 min), out of which "Unknown [None]" takes 6220 mW which is around 8% compared with the remaining process which takes 4%. That's quite a lot %, which made me to think for raising this question.

If you check this attached screen shot (https://ibb.co/hzob7F), this unknown consumes 54447 mW for (1.5 minute charge duration) which is 60% more than other process takes.

If you check this attached screen shot (https://ibb.co/g6dnEv), this unknown comsumes just 1mW for (2 hrs charge duration)

But in my quick analysis, i found this process kicks in most of the time when laptop runs in battery than AC charge. Also it peaks more when Microsoft OneNote application runs.

If you need the full 7 days report i can send it to you for your analysis.

Thanks and regards
Sundar

Hi,

Battery runtime on the review goes from 2 to 13 hours depending on use.
As it stands I think you are wishing for more battery time than what this design will deliver.

Also, as per you comment on the battery runtime, I should be getting around 9 to 11 hours based on their review on Thinkpad X1 Yoga (1 Gen) but I am not even getting 5:30 hrs. It keep fluctuating and I am getting around 4:30 hrs on a average, which is really a disappointment. Some time even less inspite of using a optimal power settings for e.g. keeping the battery in save mode, and display around 70 to 80% and stopped lot of background services.
That's the reason i am trying to find out what is going wrong here.
Sorry, I am not expecting the battery time more than what it is designed for, my worry is I am not even getting 50% of what Lenovo has marketing for i.e. 9 to 11 hrs.

Thanks and regards
Sundar
