And why do you need it needs new firmware?
Isn't there a makers website in the manual?

I need the firmware because for some reason they expect u to install new firmware when u get it and its supposed to be in the driver disk they give you but i cant seem to find it. The disk is so cluttered that its impossible to know where anything is but in order for my player to work I need the new firmware and i dont think there is a online manual or anything. any more help anyone?

If it doesn't work out of the box ...

return it. New firmware might let it run better (or with more features) than it does now, but they shouldn't sell products that are so defective that they don't run at all. You've got warranty, don't you? The least they can do at the shop is tell you where it is on the disk.

I googled for this device and only found it with tigerdirect: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/searchtools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=2913215
This is what they say about themselves: "Customer service is the most important aspect of our business, and we want to be there whenever and wherever you need us." Well, you do at the moment.
If you happened to buy it elsewhere, best of luck.
