Question

POWER PROBLEMS RELATED TO USB

Mar 19, 2017 10:48AM PDT

Hello everybody. Last night I plugged in a USB phone charger into the back end of my computer (I do this all the time with 0 problems) and my computer instantly shut off and now won't start back up. When I try to turn it on absolutely nothing happens. I thought that maybe I lost all power BUT the lights on my mouse (USB mouse) are still turned on. If anybody could think of the possible problem and or solution I would greatly appreciate it. THANK YOU

Connecting an USB-cable to a USB-port on your PC to charge your phone should be OK. But to connect a charger to a USB-port on your PC to charge the PC doesn't seem a good thing to do (assuming you used the USB-port at the back of the PC and not some other port and described correctly what you did).

I'd start with replacing the motherboard, but maybe somebody else has a better idea.
