1. What PC? How old?
2. Did you put in a new CMOS/RTC Battery/
3. Did you get into the BIOS settings page to set the date/time and save the settings?
recently my PC running XP started displaying the following errors during start-up each time I boot it
- Secondary IDE no 80 conductor cable installed
- CMOS checksum error - defaults loaded
Press F1 to continue
I press F1
then the speaker says "system completed power on self test, computer now booting from Operating System"
Once booted up it seems to run pretty much normally except I notice that the internal clock is always rolled back to Jan 1 2001. If I manually reset the clock, everything works fine.
anyone have any ideas as to what is causing these error messages and whether this is serious ?
