Power DVD problem

Aug 27, 2005 9:01PM PDT

I have had Power dvd installed into my XP computer. I can burn cd's and dvd's using Nero. I can play cd's with windows media player .... I cannot play a dvd. When I open Power DVD the screen changes into what looks like 'safe mode'. The font size is huge and the screen is very pixelated.
Can anyone help me please?
Cheers
elle

and check the settings. There is a setting for resolution. If the numbers are too low, you will get the look you described.

of codecs at http://www.divx.com (it also comes with a free dvd player, but you can opt to not install it). I've found with Power DVD (I use the PowerVCR program to copy my old vcr tapes to the harddrive to then burn to cd) that the program doesn't come equipped with enough codecs to properly encode or view more modern type dvd and some were garbled, but the free download fixed it quickly for me.
