Power Director 8 and no audio

After a long break I decided to try making a movie from my video travels through France using PD8

I successfully captured the Video into an mpg file but when I try to edit it with PD8 there is no original Audio.

If I try to do the same in Roxio Creator or Windows Movie Maker the audio is there.

What should I be ticking or unticking in Power Director 8 which is the program I much prefer to use?

Can some kind soul supply an answer?

I have tried Googling but it has not helped as the suggestions are usually to do with added audio music or voice overs. Mine is original audio which I am happier to use.

Many thanks all

Sadly true.

It means this app has no decoder for the audio track. There are tomes on the web about workarounds but can really wipe out a person just getting into Windows, CODECs and more.

Try this. Head to and get a codec pack. Here's why we use

Look under Media, then get the K-Lite pack. If that doesn't solve it you have to inspect what encoding the audio track is in your MPEG file and then ask Power Director's owner/company what they support.

PD8 and Audio

I took a look at your suggested download but also read the reviews which do not give a good outlook on the Codec download.

Seem to say that other things download with the K Lite pack which can cause more problems than the download is worth.

Why does the Audio play on Roxio and Windows but not Cyberlink?
Is there any other solution?

Return the product that doesn't work for you. I've offered my best advice so that won't do for you. As I wrote, CODECs and all that can get folk very upset. You didn't take the advice so there's little to do but get a refund now.

Wow there Bob. Didn't mean to upset you but I appear to have done so by the tone of your reply. Sorry.

Kodak did not want to know when I asked for a further printhead and said it could be a software problem but were not prepared to help further. So, I don't have a high opinion of their support centre.

Thanks for your suggestions anyway.

I had hope it was just a decoder issue.

And given what you can catch by common downloads I offered up Ninite along with why. Since the most like fix was not an option then what else to do but call the product defective?
