power cuts off...

hi evry1. i just assembled my 1st pc. it has a P5KPL-CM LGA775 motherboard with an Intel 3.0Ghz processor. it boots up well and when i try 2 install win xp, it works fine, but after in loads evrything and tries 2 restart the system loses power. can anyone out there pliz help me with this?

Is an eerily similar discussion. After a few attempts they finally got the heatsink compound on the CPU and the heatsink mounted proper then your and their issues vanished.

thanx R. Proffitt... after submitting my post, i thoght ill check the CPU. After booting i went into the BIOS and realised that the CPU temp was at 100+ degrees celsius and thats when the auto-shutdown feature kept coming into place. So after shutiing down, i removed the CPU and realized that there wasnt enough heatsink cream. the guy at the computer store told me that it already had heatsink grease on it. well luckily i boght an extra tube of cream, which i put on the heatsink. now my pc is working fine and the CPU running at normal temp again...
anyways, thanx for posting man.
