Post Media Network and Registry Patrol Scam

Jun 26, 2010 6:07AM PDT

After purchasing Registry Patrol on Jun 11, 2010, I followed all of the instructions and downloaded the software. After the download I did not receive an Unlock Key Code. It took four emails and 10 days before someone sent me a link that was suppose to solve my problem. Needless to say that didn't work either. The link provided a version that only partially work and nevered solved the problems it found.

I attempted to use the contact and help buttons and they didn't work at all. Of course there are no phone numbers listed to contact support only email addresses. They tell you that they have 24/7 support desk help. I have sent them six emails and no one has responded.

I requested through email for a complete refund and to date I have not heard from Registry Patrol or it's parent company Post Media Network. It appears that any product from Post Media Network is a scam!!!

This cost me $99.95USD because I failed to check on a product recommed by AskNerd. It appears that AskNerd is part of the scam or the problem. It should also be noted that AskNerd is also an advertisement on cnet. I recommend any programs be purchased from a reliable source and that you can actually have in your hand.

Lesson has been learned.

Post Media Network and Registry Patrol Scam
Jun 28, 2010 2:22AM PDT

This cost me $99.95USD because I failed to check on a problem recommeded by AskNerd. It appears that AskNerd is part of the scam and the problem. All complaints regarding Post Media Network, Registry Patrol and AskNerd can be addressed at the government agency that does handle this type of problem. The agency is:

Competition Bureau Canada
Telephone: 819-997-4282
Toll-free: 1-800-348-5358 (Canada)
Toll-free TTY: 1-800-642-3844 (for hearing-impaired only)

Fax: 819-997-0324

Mailing Address:
50 Victoria Street
Gatineau, Quebec
K1A 0C9

The Information Centre is the primary point of entry for requests from members of the public.

I talked with them and they have started an investigation concerning The Post Media Network, Registry Patrol, and Asknerd.net. They will work this problem and if it appears that they are scamming people out of money then they will do everything they can to shut them down.

They did say that I lost my money but hopefully they will be able to prevent them from harming others. They also said that they would like anyone else that has had similar problems to file a complaint. You can file a complaint on their website:

http://www.competitionbureau.gc.ca

Just click on the box for questions and complaints and fill out the form. They said they would response by email to all complaints.

Additionally, the Better Business Bureau (BBB) gives AskNerd a rating of F and Registry Patrol a rating of F.

Notice the mailing addresses for the companies:

The Post Media Network
18th Floor
5135 189th Street
Edmonton, Alberta, Canada
T6M 2L1

AskNerd Mailing Address
5135 189th Street

The question I have is why does CNET continue to advertise and have links to these sites and products? I would think that CNET is more interested in helping the consumer by stopping these types of scams. Any help from CNET would be greatly appreciated by all concerned.

Registry Patrol ( another frauded customer)
Jul 2, 2010 2:36AM PDT

PLEASE HELP ME. I also bought the program Registry Patrol ( from Post Media network) on July lst to fix some vista problems. I have run the scan, now it has messed up my business files on excel, removed everything from my start menu, did not fix the program that gave me the Active X error. Tried to contact company. Of course no luck. Contacted the credit card company and I posted complaint on the site you gave in Canada. However, I am scared that is is a hacking system. It says I can restore to previous point...do not want to trust anything else on program. So, so I uninstall first then restore my computer to Jun 30th?? Or do I restore my computer first and then uninstall??? Or any other techi help please and thank you!

(NT) Restoring to before install implies uninstall.

i looked and followed the recomendation for this product and tried to purchase it when filling out form to pay i decided to use paypal instead of there recomended bank it was then that it totally blocked and i could not finish my purchase , fortunatly i came on this morning to post my disgust at haveing sent 4 e mails and no response i now see what has happened they have probably taken the money and run .
why can't an internet site remove the adverts or block them when there are numerous people who have registered problems , untill they are verified as being legal in all senses.
i believe you would be covered by paypal if you had used them .
i had installed obviously then attemted to pay and what i did notice is that it is a free download with a trial period but the moment it finds a problem it can't fix it you need to buy right away , got you by the short and curlys .
and the computer was worse than before do they create problems so you have to fix them ??????????????? i think some do.
there is a good program out there somwhere its just finding the right 1 .
thank you for your information i will look carefully for what i want.

You can get your money back

I tried to buy Registry Patrol a week ago, and paid through PayPal. I got the message saying there was a problem with the download, and after a couple of wasted e-mails I noticed something on the ClickBank site which allowed me to raise a support ticket for my order. I did that, and after 2 days received an e-mail asking me if the problem had been resolved or whether I would like to change the status of the ticket to a refund request. Having by now read these posts I clicked on the refund button, and the next day I got e-mails from both ClickBank and PayPal telling me that my refund had been processed in full. After the initial frustrations, it was easier than I thought.
