Possible virus on laptop

Hi, I have recently changed my AV software from AVG to Trend Micro Titanium Maximum protection on my Toshiba Satellite A100 using XP OS, on start up I get a burst of alarms and when in windows I get a constant laying of the letter "d" in any search area and then a burst of alarms as if I had a sticking d key, which it is not sticking, I also have a file called debug notebook on my desktop that flashes and until I delete the icon the it keeps opening when I try to open anything else, I believe it is a virus that I need to remove, has anybody had any problems like this that they can shed some assistance with
