Hello DobroOne,
similar situation has been already discussed at AVG FreeForum.
It is needed to restore association of EXE extensions. Some tutorials are available here, here, here or here.
Then please run AVG scan and check the situation again.
What is the email identifier of received answer from AVG Technical support? (AVG#...)
Thank you
Was on Skype last Friday afternoon and received a warning message from AVG that there was a virus detected on computer. I proceeded to move the infected file to the virus vault as instructed by AVG then shut down and restarted computer. Since restart I have not been able to access AVG to run scan, nor have I been able to open many programs that are on my computer. Whenever I try to open a program I get a window asking what program to use and usually it's an Adobe AIR Application Install that is being highlighted and recommended to use. When I select this option I get another window titled Application Install: which states: "Sorry, an error has occurred. The application could not be installed because the AIR file is damaged. Try obtaining a new AIR file from the application author.". I have no idea what an AIR file is. I have sent a request to AVG for support regarding this incident but have not received any response with the exception of sending me an email telling me that they are busy and I may have to wait a while before getting a reply. It's been over 3 days so I have no idea if or when they will reply again. My question is this" Has anyone experienced this problem before and, if so, what did you do to correct it.? I might add that my friend to whom I was talking with on Skype informed me that he had a virus alert at the same time and that the name of it was "xp security 2011" I can't tell you what the name of the virus on my system might be because I'm unable to access AVG on my computer. My real concern is that it might not even be working to protect me right now!! Any help and or information you may offer will be greatly and deeply appreciated. I thank you in advance. ....... Clay J.
