Position drawn objects in word 2003

Jul 13, 2009 12:05AM PDT

I've searched and searched and can't find an efficient solution, so I was hoping someone here could help me...so here goes:

When I draw an object in word (not on the drawing canvas) and want to reposition it, I'll select it and drag and drop it to the location I want. I am typically trying to draw a circle with no fill and position it on an image to call out something in the image. Depending on where it's position, it will do one of two things:

1. It repositions correctly where I put it...rarely happens.
2. Once I release the mouse button, it jumps somewhere else on the page. This will also happen if I have it selected and use the arrow keys to move it (even if ctrl is held).

I can go into the properties and reposition by entering numeric values, but it makes creating these documents very time consuming.

I've tried adjusting the settings in the autoshape properties dialog and it still jumps around.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Are you using the right application?

What you seem to be doing is type setting. Have you considered better software that is more in tune with your documents?

Sadly...

It's not my decision. I agree with you completely, it's not the right software for what we are doing, but it's what the company is using and changing it right now is not an option (but I'm working on it).

Then nudge?
