Question

Ports stop working randomly after storm.

Sep 22, 2017 8:56AM PDT

Most of my ports started acting weird after a storm a couple of days ago.

My audio jack in the back stopped working completely and my mouse and keyboard stop working when the PC gets into even remotely stressful situations ( getting into a game, etc ). Also, on the first few starts of my PC ( after the storm ) it was acting weird, being horribly slow to start-up and there was a weird error message when I powered it down - that stopped and now the PC powers on normally but the problems previously stated are still in effect.

Any help? Did the storm screw anything up?

The other things?

And what do you think about the rest? the keyboard and mouse during games problem.

Could it actually be the PSU? or the PSU and the soundboard?

If keyboards and more fail.

I worry the motherboard is blown. I'm not there to diagnose but motherboard replacements tend to cost more than a new machine. Get estimates.

I have seen bad sound cards cause game issues. So I carry that USB sound device in my medic bag.
