Portable DVD player only playing half my DVDs

by THECHEESE69 / January 12, 2010 3:49 AM PST

My portable DVD player has recently started only playing about half my dvds. I have used a lens cleaner on it several times and it isn?t the DVDs themselves as they work on my other DVD player. There doesn?t seem to be any link to the DVDs it will and won?t play as it will some of my burned movies and not others and some of my bought from the store dvds, and not others. Any ideas on what to do would be creatly appreciated. It has DIVX and won?t play DVDs that just worked on it up to about two weeks ago.

Thank you.

If the lens cleaner didn't help ...

it probably is time for a new one. It would be cheapest if you still have warranty.

...check the manufacturer support pages for firmware updates if applicable. YMMV.

FWIW, if you can find an LG83 somewhere online, it plays practically anything I throw at it. A great place to find players that beat all the region coding issues is world import here in Chicago near O'Hare-
