Portable DVD Player Carseat Mount

Apr 9, 2009 12:25AM PDT

Hi,

I was thinking of purchasing a Sony DVP-FX820 portable DVD player for the kids. I would also like to secure it to the back of one of the seats of my minivan. I saw that Case Logic has something http://www.caselogic.com/ax_7_9_in_car_dvd_player_case/product_detail/index.cfm?modelid=90306, but I'd like something a little sleeker and that would hold it more flat to the seat back since the Sony can be folded into a tablet. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I've yet to find an optimal solution

Last year I bought an LG portable player w/ 8.5" screen that also folds into a tablet. You might consider it PQ & feature wise over that Sony, which is somewhat grainy and has a slightly worse viewing angle. Mine is very similar to this one-

The Case Logic case I bought was similar- getting the straps just right was challenging to strap it down while folded. If you can give me another day, I can grab the actual case from home (basement?) and post the actual model number. Since the LG remote didn't have enough of the controls we wanted, the tablet fold feature wasn't as useful for us for in car as the traditional layout that you see in your Case Logic product photo. FWIW, the LG can play PAL/NTSC discs, and with a freely downloadable firmware hack, it now plays all region codes. Some of the Amazon.com reviewers pointed me in that direction- to find a player with better PQ & the firmware hacks for playing more types of DVDs.
