Question

Portable Audio Devices

May 7, 2015 8:30AM PDT

Hi,
I need advice on a new portable audio device to play my music. I currently own an Altec Lansing boombox that I connect to my MAC laptop and play my music thru. It sounds terrific and I can easily transport it inside or outside. HOWEVER, this is my second one and both have just quit on me. The electrical cord stopped working and there doesn't seem to be a way to fix it. I've contacted Altec customer service, but haven't heard anything. Apparently this isn't unusual. The internet is loaded with complaints about this problem and Altec not doing anything about it.
SO...I'm looking for advice on what to get next. Sound and ease of transport is important. I'm a little hesitant about wireles/bluetooth speakers. Not sure the sound is great.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Scott
