ok i figured out the problem, i think. it seems everytime i try to turn on aol instant messenger the port becomes closed. then i turn off aol instant messenger and the port seems to open back up. ive tried enabling aim on my routers page, but it didnt seem to work. any suggestions on this?
I am using a NETGEAR WPN824v2 wireless router and am trying to open a port to allow my downloading speeds on uTorrent to go faster. As of right now they are barely breaking 10kb/s. So I opened the port on my router that corresponds to utorrent. The first time i opened it, i checked on utorrent to see if it was actually open, and it said it was and my downloading speeds were drastically increased. They were pushing 100kb/s each. i comeback an hour later and they were back down to nothing. i checked the port and it said it wasnt enabled. it was the same port from before. so i go to my routers page and the enabled port doesnt even show up. i try to enable it again, but it says it is already enabled. i try a different port, and it stays open for about 10 minutes. i try another one, and it never opens. i have no firewalls anywhere on any of our computers. what gives? i followed the instructions on portforward.com. im pretty sure i did. any help?
