pop-ups

Oct 30, 2011 2:39AM PDT

<span lang="EN">I have Window 7 and Internet Explorer 9 on my computer. I frequently get pop-ups from dailydealspanel.com which says I won an iPad 2. I have a pop-up blocker on my computer. I can't figure out how to contact them and tell them to stop sending me these pop-ups. How can I stop getting these pop-ups? Thank you. user470

First you need to figure out where they're coming from. It may be that you've picked up some malware, since you're using a rather promiscuous browser, and that's the source of these popups, or it might be that you're visiting some less than reputable site where they include a popup as part of the code for a button to go to another page, to bypass the typical popup blocking methods.

In addition to Jimmy's post, look at IE's Add-ons. You may have picked up a suspect one somehow.

When do you get those popups?

- Only if you're visiting that site?
- Also while you're visiting other sites?
- Also when you're not using a browser at all, just your media player or word processor or such?

If they only appear when you run your browser, do they also appear in Firefox or Chrome, if you use those?
