General discussion

poor picture quality when burning CDs

Nov 8, 2005 9:45AM PST

Captured video from JVC (GR-D275) digital camcorder using Dazzle DVC 80 capturing devise (video capture resolution up to 320x240 pixels).Connected to my Toshiba laptop (Satellite A15-S157) via a USB port.Used Pinnacle Studio QuickStart to burn video to a disc. Picture on the CD was not sharp. It was blurred. When I copied the same video to a VSH cassette the picture was fine, clear and sharp. I disabled screen saving and antivirus applications before burning the disc. I have Windows XP operating system.

Need help.

Since it has firewire, why dazzle?

I would have connected with firewire and used WINDV from google.com

Your method will be not so good and can't be fixed.

Firewire Port

I thought Dazzle would do the job.I don't seem to have a port to connect a firewire to my desktop. Can a USB port be adapted to accept the firewire?

No. But we can add firewire for cheap. Links.

Thanks for the information. I'll check the websites and order a firewire adapter.

I purchased firewire and adapter and downloaded WINDV.
Had no problem capturing video. But pictures on burned CD are still fuzzy and not sharp. Any other suggestions?

Remember that we must view on the TV.

PC displays are far better than our TV and people often complain about the ratty video we get from camcorders until we view on the TV.

Also missing is how you created the CD. I don't know if the loss is occuring there or if the capture was no better with firewire.

Used firewire to capture video using WINDV and Pinnacle Studio Quickstart 8 software. Saw no significant difference with the capturing process. CD burned using Pinnacle Studio Quickstart 8 software. CD still not sharp. Viewed video on TV and it looked good. Have downloaded pictures from digital camera and successfully burned them to a CD.Pictures looked fine.
