There are lots of battery technologies out there in use or development. Plug in hybrids being recharged either at night when the demand is much lower, or even by solar at the home fed into a storage device that charges the car, while not as efficent still take alot of energy demand off the grid. If the whole world went hybrid tomorrow yeah we would not have enough electricity to meet the demand, but how likely is that to happen.
If everybody had a bloom box at their home to charge their car or store their energy from their solar array, then a significant drain on the grid could be avoided.
Would you consider buying a hybrid or alternative-fuel car?
-- Yes (Which one?)
-- No (Why not?)
-- Maybe someday (What's holding you back now?)
-- I already own a hybrid or alternative-fuel car (Which one, and what do you think of it?)
