Polk Monitor 10 Series Floor Speakers

Sep 10, 2008 9:38AM PDT

Anyone know how good these are? (2 6.5" mids, 10" passive woofer, tweeter, built '90-'92). Couldn't find any reviews. I just bought Klipsch SF-1 2-way tower speakers and they sound OK but there's some mid and bass missing. They sound a little thin. I never did like tower speakers that much but I thought I'd take a chance with these Klipsch.

Taking a chance - yes, on a pig in a poke!

You gotta get out & actually listen to these things, man. Speaker brands typically have own distinctive sound character. They sound very different. Go into any listening showroom when they are not so busy. Compare some speakers. The differences should astound you. That's why you have to listen to them personally . If you had me go find the best speakers for whatever your budget is, my selection would still be just what my ears found pleasing - not yours.

If you want junk speakers, bear in mind the Polk shipping charge is almost as much as the speaker price itself.

You never did like tower speakers that much? A blanket statement that doesn't make much sense to me. Sorry for coming on so elitist. But you need to listen to speakers to appreciate the differences.

Yes, I admit, a somewhat reliable pro review, such as one from C/NET, has some reliability.
