Podcasts not downloading correctly, only getting minutes

Mar 8, 2006 11:51AM PST

The last few podcasts (since Monday) have only been downloading snippets in iTunes. Yesterday I got 30 seconds, today about 2 minutes.

I even tried simply playing the podcast on cnet's site, and it went for the same 2 minutes and then stopped.

It appears that no-one else is having the problem? No one else seems to have posted so maybe it is just me.

I've had that problem before ..

.. not with BOL, but with other podcasts before. All I had to do was simply unsubscribe from the podcast, and resubscribe, and it started working.

Hope that helps!

I know what you're talking about

I was ready to start pulling my hair out on Monday night because I couldn't get any form of download to complete. I ended up listening to the podcast tuesday afternoon at work. Tuesday was similar, but not near as bad. Today (Wednesday) didn't give me any problems at all.
I usually just chalk it up to my spotty dorm room connection, so I don't mention it here.

I think it is bandwidth

The problem began happening about 5 or so days ago using iTunes to download BOL and TWIT. To make sure it is not a problem with my DSL/ISP, I ran a test download and I get 170 KBytes/sec - not shabby.

Maybe it is popularity of BOL and a lack of sufficient bandwidth.

caching...

Another podcast I listen to had this problem a couple months ago. I think it was TWiT, but I'm not certain of that.

The issue then was that one of the files on the server was incomplete, and it got cached on other servers, which was then downloaded by many people. It took awhile for the problem to be corrected.

That said, I'm using Juice to download my podcasts and have had zero problems with BOL.

Now the downloading is back to normal: quite fast on DSL.

Installed Juice - same problem
Mar 9, 2006 10:55PM PST

I installed Juice with the hope that it would solve my problem; it did not. Does anyone know the IP of the server that is doing the downloads or know how I can get it? I live 40 miles north of San Francisco, so on the assumption that the server is in the Bay Area, there should not be too many hops.
