Podcast Curiosity

Mar 8, 2006 7:40AM PST

Just out of curiosity, how many members here (besides Tom, Molly, and Veronica) regularly podcast? There's a couple of people I've run into on the BOL flickr pool that podcast, and I'm just wondering how many more there are here in the BOL Lounge. I'm always looking for new podcasts to listen to, so I figured it would make sense to ask here.

I'd like to know also.

I've been interested in podcasting, but have no inkling of what I'd podcast about. I'd love to add to my already long list of podcasts I subscribe to.

I don't want to toot my own horn...

...simply because I'm more interested in listening to other podcasts than my own (which is why I started this discussion), but if you're interested in finding new podcasts Terry, perhaps somebody who knows me can chime in about my podcasts while I learn about other podcasts from the other members here who podcast.

I know I'm showing up as unknown right now, and my username isn't exactly the same one I use everywhere else, but Veronica and probably at least a few other members know me and the podcasting group I'm affiliated with.

I don't know if this is something that the CNET forum policy agreement permits. I think that is why it is hush hush, however, check out some of the bios of the forum members, some of them (us) have our website listed.

Huh?

I might be way off base in starting this discussion, but I didn't start it to advertise me or other podcasters, I simply have a genuine interest if there are other podcasters among the ranks here, not what their shows are per se... Buzz Out Loud is an excellent podcast, but surely there are others who podcast as well? You don't need to advertise your podcast here, if I know who you are, you'll be easy enough to find in the myriad podcast directories out there.

Ok, I must be blind in my old age Andy..

.. but I didn't see a website listed in your profile. Maybe I'm just looking in the wrong place?

As for the podcast thing, perhaps CNET does have some sort of policy that prohibits it. If that's the case, people (that includes you also TMV!) are more than welcome to email me through my profile here and let me know of some podcasts. I'm always more than willing to give people a listen, especially since I'm completely addicted to it. Happy

I doubt that...

I doubt that there is something in place that specifically prohibits it... I initially searched for podcast discussions here and found a few discussions listing podcasts that people listen to... This isn't much different than that, just the other way around.

True ..

I had forgotten about that thread about the podcasts people listen to (old age thing, y'know Happy ).

Personally, I'm just interested in knowing about other podcasters in here. Thought it'd be a good way to get to know some of my fellow BOLers.

Well, now you know about me...

...I do four different podcasts... You should be able to google my name in my profile, and my sites will pop up.

I've done more lurking than participating here, but figured I'd stick my head up and say hi.

I hope the moderators don't hate me...

But I'm going to make a call here (talent. they think they can do anything).

The community rules are meant really to prohibit spammers but also to stop people from poaching our members over to their sites. But in this context, with our community, I think it would be great to hear about members doing their own podcasts. It's the whole spirit of podcasting.

So I hope that as long as you only post your personal podcasts and you promise not to steal all our listeners, it might be OK. (Moderators? Can we make an exception in this one case?)

Anyway just to ease into it, I am a listener to The Weekly Tech Review by AndyinTN.

Well, that's good to know...

I hope this doesn't result in stirring a bunch of stuff up, and just so you know, I tell people about Buzz Out Loud all the time. This is a reciprocal thing here.

I want to know about other podcasters here, but for those of you who might be interested, I host and produce 4 different podcasts.

Apple News Log - http://apple.quicksurf.com/
Linux News Log - http://linux.quicksurf.com/
Microsoft News Log - http://microsoft.quicksurf.com/
and last but not least, The Geekinator Podcast - http://geekinator.quicksurf.com/

I've been podcasting since November of 2004, and just this week switched the three news podcasts over to daily shows... Speaking of which, I gotta go finish that right now and get them out the door before it gets too late tonight.

Anyway, who else podcasts? And by the way, Buzz Out Loud is one of the few podcasts that I listen to every day. All the other ones I subscribe to, are either spot listens, or don't publish that often.

Thanks again for clarifying Tom

I didn't want to step on anyone's toes when I expressed interest in fellow BOLers' podcasts. I'd feel very safe in saying that none of the die-hard BOLers would leave.

As for the Unknown person who keeps responding, I'm having the dickens of a time trying to figure out who you are so I can do some research on your podcasts. Maybe it's just because it's late here, and I'm getting sleepy. Since you had said that you'd rather not toot your horn, perhaps you could email me and let me know what you do?

I hope I'm not crossing any lines here, or getting into any grey areas.
