Pocket PC Wireless Capability

May 19, 2005 4:35AM PDT

After years of use, my IPAQ 3635 has died a quiet death. I'm looking to replace the unit with another Pocket PC and am considering the HP 4705.

This unit has built-in 802.11b. However, the academic environment that I am in mistreats "B" users. Whereas the G connections are stable, the B connections are intermittent (the IT department acknowledges this but is not planning to seek a solution). Does anyone know whether HP (or any other Pocket PC manufacturer) is going to release a unit with G connectivity (probably overkill for a handheld).

I dont think they will release a handheld with G capability, at least not in the short term, since its very power consumming. Hope developers can invent some new batteries lol.

Palm said the same thing about 802.11b handhelds and missed an emerging market.
