Pocket HD Versus Regular (Non-pocket)

Getting ready to make the move to a digital camcorders and I'm looking for some advice regarding pocket HDs like the Kodak Zi8 versus non-pocket models. There must be a big advantage to the regular models since they're so much more expensive. The guy at Best Buy is telling us it's all about the lens, is this so? I would think the Zi8 would take nice video at 1080p, versus a regular SD camcorder.

We're really not looking to step up to a regular HD. But even the regular SDs cost more than the Zi8. We've been given advice not to worry so much about SD/HD, and that something like the JVC GZ-MS130 SD will shoot better looking video than the Zi8, even though it's a lower resolution. Still I hesitate to get anything SD as the world moves firmly to HD.

Any advice greatly appreciated. Thanks.
